Week 10

Ok. Uh Huh. Guess What? IDGAF

My mornings are pretty consistent. However two days ago, I got up feeling like I have no idea what I wanted to do…like I have no purpose.

This confused the hell out of me. Why?

I’m fully aware that day that I needed to go to work, make my lunch, take a shower, read a book and all that. But for some unknown reason, I did not give a flying f*ck!

That “unknown reason” was later realized to be a symptom of burn out.

Work was so busy this week that I felt like I’m an overused tool pulled in different directions to help others out.

I’m no Spiderman but man it felt like it lol – in demand.

While that gave my ego a little boost, it sucked up my energy to do anything after work.

And when people are tired – they’re grumpy.

Thank goodness for self-awareness! Otherwise, I could’ve gotten into stupid arguments with others – especially with the ones I care about.

Keep your bitchy-ness in check. The negative consequences that come from it, is almost always NEVER worth it.

E-mail Newsletters > Books

I typically read around 3 to 4 books every morning.

One chapter each.

Just a little slice of knowledge from different areas improvement.

Since I was burned out, I’m aware that my reading retention is at its lowest level. Therefore I decided to read e-mail newsletters as an alternative to books. When I read a book, I wanna give it my full attention. Why waste time, consuming information you can’t remember?

With e-mail newsletters, I typically treat them much lower importance. So not much loss there if I cannot retain what I’m reading (because I typically just scan through them).

However, this time, as if Lady Luck is fully aware of my situation, I received newsletters about the truth regarding the relationship between rest, recovery and productivity. Below is a summary of my takeaways:

  • Rest Hard – when you rest, REST. DO NOT half-ass it. Treat it the same way is as if you’re working hard. Rest so well you’d feel the itch to work your ass off again.
  • Productivity is NOT only a result of good time management, but it also requires ENERGY MANAGEMENT. When you’re tired, you obviously cannot perform at your full potential.
  • “Taking a break” means taking a break not only physically but also mentally. Don’t think about work when you’re on a break. *This relates back to “Rest Hard”
  • Do something that recovers your energy. This sounds like a counter-intuitive idea. Consume physical energy to regain mental energy. Examples of this are drawing, cooking, dancing, washing the dishes, gardening – you get the point.
  • Distraction is when you produce information WHILE consuming information at the same time.

Conclusion: Some e-mail newsletters are uber useful.

Which is why I recommend signing up for them. They’re free and they contain a gold-mine of useful information that you can apply to significantly improve your life.

Side Hustle: Flipping & Shipping

Taking a nap (after work to recover some of my energy) was one of the solutions I considered. But getting myself to take a nap is difficult when your brain is so pumped up thinking about how to make extra money (on the side).

In my case, I was excited to test the idea of flipping products (buy-n-sell).

Recently, I found a product that I thought might be cool and useful to individuals who use their phone as if it’s another part of their body. Most people are probably in that category anyway.

If that describes you then maybe Tenikle is right for you.

I bought a few Tenikles (with the gut feeling that it catches on and hopefully becomes viral). The strategy?

Save money on shipping.

How?

Shipping cost is split between the total quantity of the product. The more quantity you buy, the more savings 😉

When we buy something online, we look at the price but often forget to take into account the cost of shipping. So there it is, my plan is to sell these products at a reduced shipping cost – because I’m buying a few of them.

By the way, before you ask me “How much?”, I’m fully aware the product is NOT CHEAP.

Definitely NOT for bargain hunters.

I prefer to offer this to people who live in Winnipeg who want to have/gift a cool and RARE product (because you won’t find this on Amazon or Kijiji).

Let me know (through txt message or FB messenger) if you’re interested 🙂
