Week 20

What's On My Mind

“Yea…might as well do it…”

Our neighbor reported us when the old mattress that we put on the side of our house tipped over to his property.

That problem was taken care of the next day.

However, since a report has already been logged, some city-inspector came a few days later to check and confirm the issue. The inspector couldn’t find anything that would trigger our neighbor to report us. I told her it was probably that mattress that tipped over, which was already taken care of. Desperate to find something, she asked if she can look around…

That’s when she saw that pile of junk in our backyard–yup, spring cleaning.

She then took a picture and asked us to try to get rid of it. I was like “Wait a minute, you mean I need to get rid of those right away even though it’s not harming our neighbor?!”

She goes, “Unfortunately, yea…”. Then I was like, “What? There’s a law for that?”. Then she goes, “Yea there is…I know…I don’t understand either”, unconfident as if she was torn between making a big fuss about it and going back with nothing to report. But she preferred not to go back empty-handed. I understood. She was just doing her job.

A letter came a few days after to force us to get rid of the piled-up junk. Otherwise, we would pay a penalty of $250.

Everyone at home was pissy about what happened. I wasn’t.  I’m actually glad it happened because now we need to put a priority on getting rid of the junk. If you don’t put a deadline to it, you’re more likely to delay addressing it.

Now the garbage is gone. The backyard is now junk-free. The end.

Weekly Update

Personal Projects

After learning that I can convert my blog posts to audio, I felt motivated to write a more “topic-focused” blog post. Another way to increase my audience.

I don’t consider this “weekly-blabber” a blog post. Its purpose is to track what the hell have I been doing to achieve my goals. It also serves as a reference to things I wanted to talk about. I sometimes revisit my posts and look for topics I wanted to discuss further.

I’ll be adding a new page on my website called “Soundclip” where you’ll hear my blog read by someone like Lumina.

The deeper you understand your product, the more likely you want to offer it.

That’s what I felt toward the life insurance product I’ve been meaning to sell. I hate to sell something I don’t believe in – especially if you’re going to sell them to friends and family.

I attended a live Q&A webinar this week that shed a light on some of the questions I’ve been meaning to ask but never asked.

You tend to learn more from listening to Q&A than learning from a presentation.

Routine

I’ve been pretty consistent with my 5 AM workout this week. I intend to keep that up. I was also consistent with eating light dinner. However, after all that, I gained a pound of weight.

Lexi suddenly didn’t want me to put her to bed. That sucked. Is it the haircut? But after a while, we both managed to fix it. Phew.

When my fiancee goes back to work, I’m going to be doing all the mom-stuff when she’s away. Training starts today.

Finance

I have this rule on buying: buy only if you need it, not because it’s cheap.

Well, I broke that rule. There’s a deal for this tool I’ve been itching to buy. I resisted for a while. I don’t need it just yet. I may need it in the future…but not yet. But I contemplated buying for a day, then finally decided to buy it.
