Week 22

What's On My Mind

“Where does Time go?”

I have been logging my morning routine through Toggl and noticed that I’m not as efficient as I thought.

I tend to consume a good chunk of my time on my phone – social media, e-mails, and checking out links from the e-mails I read. Those links lead me to a rabbit hole, which, are not junk as they all provide value and new insights. However, the amount of time invested does not equal to the value I get. That’s where the issue is.

This is an area I need to improve as it would allow me to spend more time to rehearse a presentation or learn something new either through Youtube videos or books.

A Year Ago This Week

  • I also talked about increasing productivity and the importance of setting up deadlines. #pattern
  • I wrote about how I view “working hard”.
  • I also talked about how powerful “not giving a shit” is.

Weekly Update

Personal Projects

I have been watching a lot of content from The Futur lately.

This week, I learned about creating contrast in your design, the basics of color, and the difference between a designer and an artist.

It makes me wanna get back into creating illustrations with MSPaint again BUT I had to resist as there are other priorities I need to finish off first. Getting back to producing MSPaint illustrations will only delay the progress of the other ventures I already started.

I’m slowly learning how to deliver the presentation deck of the insurance company I represent. I’m now comfortable doing the first part of it. I also noticed that I get to practice better early in the morning when everyone is sleeping. This means that I might have to wake up earlier to keep this going.

That book on communication I talked about last week didn’t really provide that much more improvement to the way I talk. Though I learned how to sound a little more clear and articulate. Then after practicing here and there, I realized that the key to improvement really boils down to practice and self-awareness.

And speaking of awareness, I noticed how I have a bigger problem: I cannot communicate things clearly when asked right on the spotThis is what I noticed when I’m asked questions in a meeting. It takes me a while to structure what I wanted to say. This explains why I tend to default on, “I don’t know” as a generic answer, even when I know the answer.

I have to keep reminding myself not to think while talking because it only makes me sound like a bag of air.

Routine

I was consistent with my 5 AM squats/push-up routine.

I’ve been eating light dinner.

I’ve been getting good sleep.

But I only lost 0.4 lbs – on my lucky days – because my weight fluctuates back to gaining 1 lb *sigh*.

And so, I lost our weight loss challenge. I gained while Reyvi lost 10 lbs.

That means, no more video games for two months and no phone while I’m with Lexi.

Finance

There is not much to update here.

No steps are taken. Perhaps, if I focus more on practicing how to do the insurance presentation then maybe I can finally find clients who would trust me enough that what I sell is legit.
