Week 32

M.I.A.

“I called your desk twice, you didn’t answer. Where were you?” -Ime

I was, most of the time, AFK (Away From Keyboard) at work these last few days – rarely provided support to others.

Then all of a sudden, I requested to take the day off due to “family emergency”. Day-off was granted.

While I shouldn’t be at work, I decided to come in any way (for an hour). I felt the need to wrap things up and let others finish off some of the work I started.

As I was coming in, I saw one of my supervisors – with a WTF look on her face, “Thought you weren’t coming in?”

She’s obviously wondering “What the fuck is going on?”. But I answered her indirectly, “family emergency”.

I kept it vague. I prefer to keep my personal life away from work.

And if I do share something, I only limit it to people that I trust and really care about.

But some people at work just don’t get it. Some try to pry the story out of you. They don’t sense the fact that you don’t want to share. I find that annoying.

Some of us don’t like attention or recognition and yet everyone thinks we need recognition – whether that’s a birthday, a celebration of citizenship, a life milestone – doesn’t matter.

This explains why some of us feel awkward when given the attention we desperately try to avoid.

A lot of us don’t understand the fact that how we see things may not be necessarily the same as how others see it – regardless if it’s common knowledge.

Empathy is a tricky thing. Social norms screwed it up for most of us.

[NTS] Waiting...

“…..”

“…”

“….”

“…..”

Yup, there’s that empty space in my schedule that needs to stay empty – to allow for any surprises.

Waiting also puts you in a state of anxiety and boredom because you don’t know what to expect –  don’t know what to do either.

However, it does not have to be that way (says the inner voice of productivity).

To put yourself in a different mindset…

Now is actually the perfect opportunity to do the things you couldn’t do because time did not allow you to do it.

It’s the time to experience what it’s like to be self-employed, to play “entrepreneur” or to be retired.

If that’s the case – DON’T WASTE IT.

Routine Disrupted

Got up late.

I didn’t get to do my usual Saturday routine.

This bugs me a lot – to a point where I’m like “Fck it! I’ll try again tomorrow”.

But I didn’t let my feelings of disappointment get in the way.

Half of the time, our moods take control of our actions – but it shouldn’t be.

“I don’t feel like doing it” fades.

You make it fade faster by actually doing something. Doesn’t matter what it is as long as it is considered to be something “productive”.

I eliminated those feelings simply by taking a shower or washing the dishes or organizing the house a little.

The point is to get yourself out of that feeling of laziness that could corrupt the rest of your day.

Practice self-discipline by forcing yourself to do something you don’t feel like doing.

A Year Ago This Week

I…

  • tried a bunch of different things – Brodo Soup, MSPaint Art, E-mail List – yet the feeling of “I need to do more” re-surfaced.
  • tried to fix my sleeping habits.
  • confessed my goals with MSPaint Art.

[Read more about it here]

Goal Update

Personal Projects

  • Samurai Drawing = Done.
    • Next = Aries – to get back to my new series.
  • Also started writing drafts for my new blog series on Life Insurance.
    • I plan to do content-marketing for this.
  • Minor updates to the website.
  • A new side project called “Book Highlights” so I can finally get rid of some of my books.

Health

I worked out 3x this week – this needs improvement.

But I’m proud of myself for doing the whole 6-sets of Happy Body in 30-mins *pop-poop-porog-gress!*

Nothing to report.

This is going to be stagnant for a while.
