Week 33

What's On My Mind

“Here we go…”

My last day of work (before going on leave) felt a little weird. It felt like I’m leaving my team behind to deal with my tasks but most of them can’t do. However, I left them with all my personal resources that help me do my job better. They’ll be fine.

It would be interesting to see how they handle things without me. They are forced to become more self-sufficient, which, is a good thing. They will level-up while I reduce the support I typically provide for them. That would result in having more time to work on side projects that I prefer to do.

For a month, I’m going to experience what it’s like to be a stay-at-home dad.

While I wanna view it as a “vacation”, it is really to make up for lost time with my daughter.

Plus, I also intend to use the time to double-down on my personal projects.

Going away for a month seems long but it isn’t.

I’m sure time will fly by…

Weekly Update

Personal Projects

I submitted an article for CTTAM that talks about naturally increasing your salary without negotiation.

I’m almost done with my article for Medium. It’s about an overlooked investment.

I still have to finish editing my article for Linkedin about working like a freelancer when you’re a 9-5 employee.

The “goal” is to get my work out there and start building my brand as a writer.

But the real goal is to make money doing it.

What you’re reading right now is a journal (not a “blog”). What I write on Medium is what I consider a “blog”. Below are some of the series I wrote:

Quick 1 – one-minute personal reminders. This is where I wag my finger to myself.

Improvement Curve old articles I’ve written that show how crappy my writing was a couple of years ago.

***

I’m also going to do some work on my career in the insurance industry. Again, to make extra money on the side. But under the following conditions:

  • No spamming.
  • No sleazy coercion.
  • With the intent to help.

I know what it’s like to be marketed and forced to buy something you regret buying after. The goal is to make you glad you bought the product.

***

Shopify has a 90-day trial. It makes me wanna try it out and sell some shirts.

***

I’m also thinking about helping a friend create content for a podcast.

Routine

Now that I’m on leave, I wanna make sure I don’t deviate from my current routine of getting up early to reflect, write, workout and have a cold shower.

I created a calendar to help me manage my time properly.

Finance

Well, I’m not even sure how much I’m gonna get from the government…which is why I need to work hard on my side projects to make extra money on the side.
