Week 36

What's On My Mind

“Well, that sucks…”

I found out this week that my request to receive parental benefits was denied. *womp womp womp

That means, no income for 5-weeks.

Which really means…I’m unemployed.

Why was it denied? I missed the window for the benefit period. I misunderstood the instruction. Oh well…lesson learned…

Now the need to “make money on the side” feels more intense because I wanted to make up for the lost income. I’ll use that pressure to get me going.

If you’re interested in helping me out, I would recommend reading the articles I write on Medium. They typically take about 5-minutes of your time. But make sure you sign-up first as a member. It’s free to sign-up anyway.

Thank you 🙂

P.S. I won’t be publishing any of my articles just yet because I wanna run them by other publications first.

A Year Ago This Week

  • struggled with sleep deprivation.
  • the mental game of: “Can I make it?”
  • why I eat salad without dressing.

Weekly Update

Personal Projects

Just got approved as a writer for 2 publications on Medium. I’m currently working on an article that talks about how parents can use video games to teach their kids some life lessons. It’s a complex idea…but that’s what I wanna get better at making complex ideas simpler.

If I’m not writing, I’m doing a series of training to get my insurance career going.

I’m unemployed and therefore I will start shamelessly promoting my articles.

My goal is to make a dollar—just enough to prove that I can make money writing.

***

Four trainings in two days and one client presentation this week.

I’m one training away to request an assessment to allow me to do presentations on my own.

Routine

No workout. No reading. Just writing.

Sleep is poor. I’ve been sleeping later than usual but still manage to get up early. However, there are also days where I get up late. Your body eventually will cry for the sleep it needs. And when that happens, I just let it have it. That’s one of the other reasons why I need to take parental leave: to adjust our working routine to Lexi’s routine.

Diet is somewhat the same – salad here and there but lately, I’ve been eating leftovers. That means, eating rice. I have never heard of a Filipino dish that doesn’t go with rice.

Finance

I have zero income for 5-weeks.
