Week 44

Prioritize

There’s a crapload of things I wanted to do in a week.

However, I always feel like I don’t have enough time to do all of them.

Perhaps creating a “system” or some sort of strategy would allow me to do more in my schedule?

One solution I have in mind is to: get up 30-mins earlier in the morning.

With the extra 30-minutes, I can spend more time reading books or sneak in a quick breakfast before going to work.

But I already get up early. Now I wanna wake up even earlier.

Most people I talked to about it find it confusing as to why I wake up at 4:30 AM. Because really, what the hell do I do in the morning that I had to wake up that early?

I’m not sure exactly what to tell them (sometimes) because I’m hesitant to share what I really do. But since you’re generous enough to waste 5-minutes of your time to read my rant, I’ll tell you. At…

  • 4:20 AM – Get-up. Piss. Drink water. Feed turtle. Brew Coffee.
  • 4:40 AM – Read.
  • 5:00 AM – Meditate.
  • 5:15 AM – Check e-mail. Browse phone.
  • 5:20 AM – Prep lunch and breakfast.
  • 5:50 AM – Eat breakfast. Get ready for work.
  • 6:20 AM – Leave for work.

I wanna get up even earlier so I can:

  • be lazy (watch Youtube or browse on social media)
  • re-watch some of the online courses I bought
  • plan out what to do in my day
  • write on my journal
  • come up with ideas on what to draw or write – because I haven’t drawn anything new lately.

One idea I’ve been wanting to pursue was to create illustrations of the lessons, insights or ideas I’ve learned from books I read and from personal experience.

However, after putting more thoughts into it, a problem surfaced: no one else is going to understand the message of the art other than the people that read the exact same materials I’ve read. It will only cause confusion instead of ‘realization’ ><

Though, I’m not giving up on the idea just yet – but I need to put a lot more work into it.

While pursuing that idea failed, I had another idea I decided to try: to draw my own…

About Page

One of the perks of the recent online program I bought was the series of coaching calls. The first of those calls was happening this week. Since I don’t have any concern at the moment about copywriting, I never bothered to really get into it until 8-hours prior to the call.

That’s when it dawned on me that I should acquire feedback for the About Page I’m working on.

Before sending my need for advice, I took a quick review of my current work but felt *ugh* – it was confusing.

The itch to fix it rushed through me but I don’t have the time. I can either: send that and acquire a rough feedback OR acquire no feedback at all.

So I ended up sending the crappy About Page.

“Attending the call to further explain the help I needed” crossed my mind but I have another webinar I had to attend to – it was for the insurance broker group I recently joined.

But since these coaching calls are recorded and are uploaded (to make it available for people who couldn’t attend) the next day, I chose the webinar.

Feedback was provided for my About Page the next day. The constructive criticism I acquired was not in-depth which make total sense because what I sent them was half-assed. Instead, the host suggested I show up in the next coaching call so he can help me better or at least point me in the right direction.

If I had sent them the best work I can do at the moment, I might have gotten a more helpful feedback. Meaning, instead of pointing out my obvious mistakes, he could’ve focused on making it much better than what it was. Lesson learned.

Asking for a feedback just for the sake of getting a feedback is the same as asking for a bad feedback. But in any case, I worked on his recommendations.

Like a good student, I took action and applied the changes his recommendations. To see the result, you can visit my Home Page [click here].

To make things a little more challenging for me that night, I also needed to cook my breakfast and lunch for the next day. I had to…

Multitask

Three things happening at the same time made it challenging for me to focus on one task.

NOTE: Multi-tasking is NOT something I want to be good at. I’d rather “do an excellent job on one and fail the other two” than “do a mediocre job on all three”.

Because of that, my focus on the webinar was also half-assed. I was listening in while cooking.

But even with the lack of full attention, I learned a little bit of the history of the group I joined (yes, I joined even before learning about their firm’s history).

Much of these insurance brokerage firms are known to be scammy and so I wanted to make sure I’m not in one of them. The verdict?

So far it’s not scammy. In fact, the webinar kinda made me want to take the business a little more seriously.

I haven’t been actively pursuing it for a while which is why I had to find a way to push myself. Using a reward system could be THE solution. Meaning, if I challenged myself to get licensed before the year ends, I will buy myself a PS4. Hmm we’ll see.

What about you? Did you follow through the goals you set-up for yourself this year? Let me know by sending me an e-mail below:
