Week 46

I have about 2, 798 unread messages in my inbox.

No I do not plan on reading all of them. I’m gonna be doing a lot of “Select All. Delete”. If you’re wondering why I have so many, well, I’ll tell you lol.

Free trials. Free e-book. I also wanna know what’s up. But in reality, I use it to study other writers–how do they do things? why am I drawn to their writing. However, lately, I’m doing more writing than studying.

The best way to learn is to put something out there and figuring out what works and what to avoid next time.

I found out about George Ten–a famous copywriter on Twitter.

I saw a sample of his Storytelling that matches how I wanna come across in my writing. They’re funny and catchy. I instantly became a fan.

This week I decided to finally try ‘Copywork’ – it’s where you copy each and every word of the content you want to emulate. Here’s what I learned:

Writing it by hand is fn tiring lol.

***

I was able to finish 2 VBA-projects this week (without the help of ChatGPT).

I feel like I’m understanding things a little better now. This reiterates the idea of “Learn by doing, not by watching”. As a writer, it’s so easy to get sucked into consuming other writers/gurus content in the hopes of improving my skills. While that is definitely helpful, it can be distracting.

This explains why I have so many unread emails in my inbox lol.

The more you do, the more you get better at it—the more you avoid what you should be doing, the more you get good at avoiding it.

The habit/idea is not limited to positive behaviour–it also applies to negative behaviours.

A Year Ago This Week
