Week 48

"Use Today To Prep for Tomorrow"

The idea is not new at all. But it is typically applied to personal finance – not in other areas of life.

It’s a principle I like to remind myself every day especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed with a to-do list. Take it one day at a time. Step. By. Step.

So far, the “home-cooked chili, sous-vide steak, and salad combo 3x per week diet” is working out pretty well:

The simplicity (or repetitiveness) addresses the problem of not know what to cook or eat. They are also simple to make which helps me create extra time to do something else.

Am I gonna get sick of it eventually? Maybe but as of now, it is working so I don’t have a reason why I should quit it.

It’s one of those initial steps I need to take to become more efficient with my time (work-life balance).

Another skill I need to get better at is prioritization.

December is here and I still have a long list of projects I need to finish at work and other tasks I needed to wrap up to support my (personal) side projects.

Another thing I need to add to my daily habit is exercise – even for just 5-minutes regardless of how useless that may sound. Why?

Increase my energy capacity for “full engagement”.

Right now, it’s at 53% as per free assessment tool I found based on the book I’m currently reading: Energy Assessment Tool

Here’s what mine looks like:

Portrait Painter Wanted for $250-$750 (CAD)

The inquiry got me all excited (initially) then slowly turned into annoyed.

The guy didn’t even bother looking up what I actually do before sending me the message.

The job calls for an actual painting (paint on canvas NOT digital art).

This tells me that he shotgunned his message to all potential freelancers living in Canada – a lazy approach.

My gut feeling is that he is a job broker who intends to sell the painting at a much higher price – or worse, he’ll get you to do the job without paying you at all.

Gotcha muthafu**a!

This happened to me once when I dealt with a client who would be willing to pay me for ideas. I squeezed my brains out with as many ideas as I have for the job.

I received $0.00 in return. #Lessonlearned

Pauline has gone AWOL after I asked for the payment ><

Thanksgiving Deals

My inbox drowned with good deals I’m itching to buy – but I resisted.

However, I might sign up for another 3-month term with Spotify for $9.99.

Sometimes, when shit gets a little too crazy at work, you need the music to calm your nerves down OR pump you up.

A Year Ago This Week

I wrote about…

  • misunderstanding the word “ethics”.
  • working hard (because “working smart” is a given). Who works in a “stupid way” in the first place?
  • received an e-mail request for personalized design

Goal Update

Personal Projects

A friend had asked about setting up e-commerce stores and dropshipping. That idea has been sitting with me for a while. 3 years ago I thought it was already a super-saturated market. I bet today it’s even more saturated.

Since then, I looked into creating a sub-domain for my website to build an e-store like Shopify.

But right now, I just wanna focus on acquiring clients for life insurance – through referrals.

Here’s a link to the first article I wrote about it.

Health

I’m on my 7-day streak of starting work at 5:30 AM; 23-more days to go.

Getting a 7-hr sleep is a dream. I’ve come to accept that the most sleep I get is about 6.5 hrs not continuous but overall (highly dependent on Lexi).

I’ve also been inconsistent with my meditation. I needed to make sure I don’t fall off that habit because all of us need some headspace – a time to be alone and reconfigure our minds to take on the day with minimal complaints.

Finance

Nothing to report. Since I’m struggling to make money on the side, perhaps I should just leverage my full-time job. I’m talking about working OTs.

At least for now since I don’t have the time and energy to create another source of income.

Side Note: since we’re talking about creating another source of income, here’s the link to this book I consider buying Side Hustle Bible [Click Here]
