Week 9

Went on a 3-hour meeting with online friends to discuss making money from our craft (online).

We’ve been learning and studying storytelling, but what for? What brought us together is this common goal of getting paid to do our craft—so we can keep doing the craft. Otherwise, we’d be stuck doing whatever is helping us pay the bills and other immediate needs (i.e. a 9-5 job).

And so, if the goal is to “do the thing that you love”, then you need to figure out how to convert your work into its monetary value—the same way we are getting paid in our 9-5 job.

Editing makes my writing process inefficient (but it’s crucial).

I’m editing Chapter 3 of my ebook and I was like, “WTF am I talking about?”. In other words, I couldn’t efficiently deliver my main point. Re-reading my work made me feel like I was everywhere.

And that’s exactly why editing is crucial for writing!

It’s boring—but it helps you clarify your thinking.

My supervisor (who’s rarely in the office) was looking for me in the office on the day I decided to SKIP going to the office—without telling him—on the day of my annual review! Shoot me!

Truth is, I planned on showing up in the office. But as I was closing the backdoor on my way to my car, the wind was blowing hard and it looked like there was a blizzard. And so, I decided to stay and work from home. Why?

The last time I showed up in the office (despite the blizzard), not a lot of people showed up.

And so, I assumed everyone would skip again—but most people showed up LOL. Bingbong!

Anyway, we had to do my annual review online (remotely). And it went well–despite what I’ve done LMAO.

A Year Ago This Week

  • I did not realize that Hunter X Hunter had 6 seasons!
  • I had been getting a nosebleed, once every day for 5 days!
  • My Medium earnings this month are about 30% less than what I made last month.
