Week 10

I colleague mentioned how I’m becoming a better listener. How so?

He asked me questions that I found to be “stupid”. But instead of being a dick about it, I made him ask me anyway because I wanted to understand what prompted him to ask the question. I’m sure there’s a misunderstanding there somewhere and I wanna understand what that is.

A lot of times, our biases keep us from opening our ears to new ideas and other thought processes we need to consider. I say that because I was pretty confident with my answer but I was wrong about it.

Now that I’m writing this, it happens more often than I realize LOL.

It was nice to see my cousins again for a very long time.

Covid built this wealth of topics we can talk about. Y’know as a result of not chatting with each other for about 2 years. I used my mouth more for talking than eating.

Times like that, makes me wanna have a reunion—not every weekend but I’d say at least once every 6-months or so lol.

The two houses we are eyeing were sold to other bidders. I was also declined to donate blood because I’m not 100% done with my gout. It sucks, but it’s totally cool because if you ask me if I was ready to get my blood drawn out, I wasn’t ready. It’s one of those things I just wanna get done and over with. As for the house, well, we are very early in our schedule. I expect us to lose a few more bids.

A Year Ago This Week

  • The weather was a lot nicer and we were able to go out for a walk. That’s not the case today — it’s cold and the roads are filled with snow.
  • The economy went back up and had thoughts about going back to the office. That’s not the case today anymore. Omicron changed the whole plan. Now, WFH looks more permanent than it was a year ago.
  • One of the biggest Personal Development publications in Medium accepted my article and I was stoked. Now, they closed shops lol. Medium’s new rules and payment terms made it very difficult to stick around. I continue to write on Medium anyway.
