Week 11

What's On My Mind

“Covid-19 is getting into me…”

Everyone is now talking about it. Cancellation here, quarantine there, lockdown, etc.

When everyone talks about it, it becomes very hard to ignore.

And when I say “ignore”, I’m not talking about dismissing the fact that there’s a problem out there.

I talk about ignoring the “noise of fear” that robs the normality of daily life.

A case of coronavirus was confirmed in Manitoba this week. It turns out that the person is Filipino (because she was coming from the Philippines). Whoever wrote the headline of the article made it sound like the person was sick because she traveled to the Philippines – skipping the fact that she had a connecting flight to Korea (where there is a high number of cases of coronavirus).

I can now feel the racial discrimination that might occur from this. Whoever wrote that article was smart with writing headlines *clap clap clap*

And then there was panic buying and toilet paper hoarding. Geez, I still don’t understand what made toilet paper the thing to buy in these scary times.

Face masks and hand sanitizers could reduce your chances of getting sick – but not from the coronavirus.

Michael Osterholm (from the Joe Rogan podcast) mentioned that you can get the virus simply by BREATHING…

AND that this outbreak is only at its beginning.

Everyone’s gonna get it eventually. The question we should be asking then is, what would I do then if I did?

A Year Ago This Week

  • I had to hold my anger towards coworkers.

Weekly Update

Personal Projects

The cancellation was canceled for that online course I bought on how to start a business online. The owner realized that he needed to keep the program “for life”.

This to me is an act of caring for your customers – which a lot of us fail to do. We live in a world of “me me me” which is just fn annoying.

This week was also a little stressful at work because everyone demands that you help them. And because there’s just so much stuff that needs to be done, the quality of work I put out there is not as high as expected. There are some minor errors that I think are negligible but others make it seem more important than they really are.

When I hear them say, “Maybe you know, try to make your stuff more accurate so others won’t make a mistake because of it…”

What I’m really hearing is “You know, you should get your shit together and provide us with better quality work”.

In my head, “Did you really think I intentionally tried to put bad work out there?!”

Besides, how do you expect me to respond? “Sorry won’t happen again”?

I almost lost my cool.

After a while, I realized how one comment can screw up the rest of your workweek.

I took it personally because she was right.

In the end, we were able to talk it out and concluded that I just had so much stuff to do that I cannot cater to everyone else’s needs with high-caliber.

But if that happens again, I will try my best not to flinch.

Routine

The Daylight Savings screwed up my wake-up routine in the last few days.

But now I’m slowly getting back into it. The goal?

Up at 3 AM. Sleep at 8 PM.

It’s early I know. But that’s when I get most of my personal stuff done.

Finance

Updated my monthly budget.

As per my cashflow calculator forecast, it would take me until Feb of 2023 to pay off my credit loan.
