Week 11

Saw an osteopath this weekend to release those stiff back muscles.

“What did you do?”, he asked, but I just shrugged. Truth is, the 8+ years old mattress we sleep on has reached its end of life. In addition to that, the fact that sit all day at work doesn’t help. Plus, the chair I use at home is—not meant for office work. It’s one of those foldable chairs you use at a gathering.

Of course, it’s pretty obvious how I don’t value my back as much as I should.

Anyway, the osteopath did its thing, and now my back feels relieved. It’s easy to think that my problem is solved, but not quite.

What the osteopath did or any doctor you see is just a bandaid fix to the real problem: I’m not putting enough emphasis on my health.

The real fix boils down to putting more effort into my health such as eating less junk and working out more often.

After I finished editing the contents of my e-book, I felt stuck and confused in terms of figuring out THE STRATEGY/REASONING behind my next steps. That sounds like a mouthful but here’s a simpler version:

I need to figure out why I’m doing what I’m doing.

It’s so easy to get sucked into focusing on taking action only to realize that I’m headed on a different trajectory. They are as follows:

  1. Ok, I wanna be a lead magnet ghostwriter, but for who exactly? What industry does my potential client belong to? Are they solopreneurs? Creators? Coaches? Don’t they already have a way to capture leads? Is it even a need?
  2. The article I released on non-fiction storytelling had traction. The next one, however, did not. Wtf? Was I just lucky? Was it the headline? Was it the algorithm? Was it the time it was published? Which is it?!
  3. I tried Sparktoro to find where my potential clients are hanging out. I started by studying the followers of my writing heroes. The hope is that the questions these people ask will reveal the problem I should be solving. But at the end of it, I was like, “Wait! This is not leading me to where I wanted to be!!”

In one week, I realized all the shit I’ve been doing that could’ve led to—not a waste of time—but an inefficient approach to get to my first 5k (from writing). Phew *wipe sweat*

A Year Ago This Week

  • We were in Boracay.
  • I was fascinated by the possibility of ancient civilizations.
  • saw ‘You People’ just because it was in Flagrant.
