Week 18

What's On My Mind

“Do I really need to give it up…?”

I’m talking about coffee.

I read an article about how to use coffee strategically to give you that “limitless-like-feeling”.

Well, I want that feeling to boost my focus, especially when I’m reading that requires careful attention or when I’m in some sort of thinking activity.

Problem is, I drink coffee out of habit. My tolerance is high and therefore, it would take more than one cup of coffee to get that “kick” I’m looking for.

Now, drinking another cup of coffee may be the solution. But I’m afraid of how that would affect my sleep later in the day. Your body can only process that much caffeine in a day. That would then create another negative cycle.

Then I thought about giving it up for a week or two – to reset my tolerance.

For a coffee “addict”, giving it up for two weeks is just too long.

I wrote my thoughts about it in my journal. While I was doing that, I would occasionally take a sip of coffee and thought, “My God this tastes sooooo good!”

Then I wrote, “Is it really worth giving it up? Why would I wanna give this up in the first place? The jolt? Is the jolt THAT worth it?”

I noticed how I’m coming up with all these justifications. They sound valid. It must be what everyone goes through when deciding to give up something they love doing.

After a while, I realized that coffee does help me focus psychologically not chemically. Coffee became an “anchor” that awakens that internal voice that says “let’s fkn do this!”.

Having said all that, I may not give up coffee just yet.

But as a start, I will start observing my energy level throughout the day without it.

A Year Ago This Week

I was angry…

“Keep this thought handy when you feel a fit of rage coming on— it isn’t manly to be enraged. Rather, gentleness and civility are more human, and therefore manlier. A real man doesn’t give way to anger and discontent, and such a person has strength, courage, and endurance— unlike the angry and complaining. The nearer a man comes to a calm mind, the closer he is to strength.” — Marcus Aurelius

Weekly Update

Personal Projects

I bought a course from Appsumo called “How to Make a $1000 a Month Business Course” for about CAD$8. That’s a steal!

However, I’m not gonna go through the course for a while as I need to focus on learning more about the insurance I intend to sell.

The truth is, there is rarely a bad insurance product BUT there are bad agents out there. They are the ones that make the industry look scammy.

Most people don’t really give life insurance that much attention because there are more pressing issues that need to be prioritized. And so we delay as much as we can until the day comes when we wished we had it.

All types of investments work that way, may it be better health, career, relationship, and finances.

If you want a better *insert area of life you wanna improve* then you should start doing something today. You may not see the results overnight. But the more you delay, the longer it will take to get there.

Routine

Our weight loss challenge has begun.

The only step we’ve taken so far was to upgrade our diet.

Next is to establish a routine for physical activity.

Nothing much has been done so far but I hope that we can keep any healthy habit that comes out of this challenge.

The overall goal is to be healthy in the long run.

That is really the reason why the challenge was created not so we could force ourselves to lose weight but to emphasize the need to take control of our health…to keep up with Lexi.

Finance

I’m currently learning how to do a presentation online. I was about to purchase a headset and a webcam at Staples. I’m glad they were sold out because it pushed me to figure out a way to work with my phone’s headset and my phone’s camera. #savings.

The Top Performer Course I bought is now paid off. Yea, I regularly buy online courses. Now that that’s paid off, I need to take action and make those courses take me a step closer to financial freedom.
