I decided to get back into becoming an active member of Night Owl Nation.

I have been stagnant for the past 6-months. Been busy with Lio and travel and restarting my career (because I’ve been away for a long time). Q3 is starting and the price has gone up.

I’m getting back into it to get my money’s worth, learn more about storytelling, and connect with other creators and online biz owners.

I had a last-minute invite to talk about my salary increase this Friday.

It would’ve been ideal if I had a few days to prep some questions allowing me to bump my increase even for a little bit (a last-minute attempt for negotiation). However, I was away for 8 months. Plus, I have a new supervisor who doesn’t really know me as a subordinate. Therefore, asking for a little extra is going to be ballsy!

Worse, asking for more could backfire.

So, the next best thing is to at least position myself to get a better increase for next year.

I did that by asking the following questions:

1. Is it possible to get a 7% increase?
2. What responsibilities do you think will justify that kind of increase?
3. What do you value as a leader?

With those set of questions, I’m sure I made an impression that I’m willing to grow within the company.
