Week 34

I’m impressed with IKEA – from product design, business model and the service they offer.

One item, in particular, is their textless instruction. Man, if you don’t need words to instruct someone, you must be very clear with the way you communicate through your illustration or images. “A picture says a thousand words,” they say – IKEA took that to a different level.

That’s the kind of communication I would strive for in my illustrations.

It was announced this week that I’m going on a long parental leave.

That made one of our team members cry. I don’t think it’s because she’ll miss me lol, but because I’m going to leave a gap in our process that would add more to their current responsibilities. Oh well, collateral damage.

It would be interesting to see how everyone will manage. And I hope they’ll be able to do what I do. Why? So I can start a “new” role for the group. It gives me a chance to re-brand myself.

I thought about starting a “business” where all its users/customers can profit from it.

I’m talking about getting friends and families to use my Amazon affiliate link so that I make money from it. However, the money I’m going to make will be split between myself and everyone else who used it. I keep 25% (for managing the whole thing) and 75% of the profit will be split among everyone who used it (depending on how much they spent).

Sounds like a legit scheme, but, unfortunately, it’s not allowed by Amazon.

I experienced what’s it like to swim in someone else’s pool through swimply.

You have a changing room and a portable toilet. Not bad. However, those damn mosquitoes made us leave earlier than what we rented it for. Oh well.

Do I see myself going again? Absolutely.

A Year Ago This Week

  • Lexi was sick and I had to drop all my morning rituals simply because she needs at least most or all of my attention.
