What Happened This Week
Routine/Habit can fade if you let it.
Being sick for 2 weeks messed up my daily routine. This week was spent to slowly get things back to usual. Letting a good habit fade feels like I stopped investing in my physical and mental health.
As per James Clear,“Your current behaviors are simply a reflection of your current identity. What you do now is a mirror image of the type of person you believe that you are (either consciously or subconsciously).”

The water-resistant watch I bought at Canadian Tire finally broke.
I use this watch to time my cold showers. A lot of times, what feels like 15-minutes in my head is 1-minute in real-time. That’s what technology does for us: test how true our assumptions are.
For now, I need to mentally time myself when I’m taking my cold showers.

Inktober is a distraction.
The prompt came out a month early. While that gives me enough time to prepare, it still requires the commitment to draw and think of something creative. I had to ask myself how participating in the challenge will help me with my current goal (get good at writing).
I’ll reconsider joining next year – when I get a better handle on my schedule.

I’m currently learning about web design.
This also belongs to another form of distraction but it is something that I can’t quite ignore. The skill will help me exercise creativity and it can be used to slowly shift my career to graphic design. No, I don’t intend to quit my job but it could be a service I can offer in the future to make money on the side:
Build a professional-looking website for small local businesses.
A Year Ago This Week
- Multiple rejections in one week lol.
- Plans to be productive during my parental leave didn’t turn out the way I wanted it.
- I had a goal of making a dollar on Medium.
