Week 40

Q3 Highlights

Family of 3

Lexi came and turned us into a family.

This is not only the best Q3 highlight but probably one of the best highlights in my entire life.

I’m forever grateful for this – the kind that makes you feel like you already have everything you need in this world. It provides a solid foundation to allow you to take on harder challenges Life is waiting to throw at you.

In other words, I feel contentment – which is a double-edged sword – one side leads to complacency while the other side leads to further growth.

But growth is impossible without challenges.

If so, challenges (aka problems) are a human “need”

If that’s the case, then why do we avoid problems so much as opposed to taking them on straight up?

Insurance Broker Licence

I’m now a licensed broker.

While others took less than 3-months to get their license, mine took more than a year. Why?

It simply wasn’t a priority. I did this to increase my earning potential. I see it as a tool to acquire extra income. The next challenge is: when am I going to start learning how to leverage this “tool”?

I’m still unclear with how I’m going to pull this off.

When you have a full-time job, it makes it very challenging to do things on the side. Burnout is real…

Shifting Roles

I handle most of the electrical-related concerns in our team – call it a “specialized” role.

Problem is, there’s no one else in my team who can do what I do.

“What’s going to happen to the team if I suddenly leave or go for a long vacation?”

That’s the big project I’m currently working on: to get everyone else in my team to do what I do – to reduce the team’s reliance on me, to a point where I’m not needed as much.

Am I worried that my job becomes obsolete when I become successful?

Not one bit. This opportunity opens up a new possibility that will serve as my ticket to leave my current role and pursue something different. You know, mix things up a little bit.

Like an Alchemist, you mix and match knowledge, skills, and experiences to create something new.

What Worked, What Didn't in Q3

Goal Setting

I’ve been filling out this goal-setting form I downloaded back in December of 2018.

However, it rarely inspired me to follow through them.

Now I’m back to the “old-style” of goal setting – writing exactly what you want in the future.

“Exactly” is a heavy word as it also consists of feelings, sound, taste, details of how exactly you want your future to play out.

I’m talking non-sense again, am I? LOL.

Index Card vs. Productivity

I tested the index card method for a month as my “To-Do-List”.

Though it kept me accountable on some days, it never really motivated me to do more.

It acted more like a nagger rather than a motivator.

Perhaps I’m not using it right.

Waking App

It’s actually called “Waking Up” by Sam Harris. It’s a meditation app that helps me to become more mindful.

Admit it, there are moments you go on “auto-mode” as if you don’t have full control of your actions. Well, this app reduces those moments.

Caffeine Reduction

I’m going to keep going with my “no coffee after 7 AM” regimen.

I find that my sleep is more continuous as opposed to getting cut-off all the time.

Caffeine, though it has health benefits and besides the fact that it makes me feel focused and you know, I like its taste – it screws up your sleep quality.

Caffeine stays in your system for 12-hrs.

Q4 Forecast

I’m going to…

continue writing/reading about my goals a la “Think and Grow Rich” way.

start learning how to present the insurance product of the company I signed up with.

be more mindful of my sleeping habits.

find ways to be more aggressive with my debts.

build the discipline to take more action than consume more information.

A Year Ago This Week

I wrote about…

  • having a purpose – the will to live.
  • the art of dealing with bullshit aka Stoicism
  • my complacency and how I plan to force myself to feel hunger.

Goal Update

Personal Projects

It feels like my “Who is it for?” [see here]. needs more updates.

I started updating my existing blogs to make them more engaging for others.

Health

I’m going to try to attempt to get ready for bed at 7:00 PM.

Getting up at 3:30 AM makes me feel like I got a lot of shit done in my day.

Since that is making me feel more productive, I’m going to keep it going.

Finance

I realized that I’m saving enough for the future. Now I need to be more aggressive with eliminating my debts.

A huge change is happening in the background to help my family address this.
