Week 43

What Happened This Week

I had my first flu shot. Does this mean I now changed my views on having a flu shot? Not really. A lot of times, I ask people if it works. Some would say they rarely get sick until they started getting flu shots. This made me wonder, “Why then would I get it?”

Now, there’s a lot of factors as to how you catch the flu. These people I talk about are not medical professionals. Their answer is more likely biased towards their belief on the efficacy of flu shots. So why did I get it?

I’ve got nothing else to lose.

Plus, I trust our medical professionals.

My car was dead for a few days. I wasn’t sure why. I unhooked the batteries before storing it. I even drove it to pick up groceries. But after a few days, the battery seems to be depleted. No power or whatsoever.

I’m no mechanic but I deal with this kind of stuff at work. I suspect that there is something wrong with the alternator. This scared me because we are probably looking at a $500 fix.

I also might need to sign up for a CAA membership to get my car towed. I can boost my car but I don’t want it to die while I’m driving it to the shop. Towing costs about $80 per lift or $150 for a year (as a member). Shoot!

Called a mechanic to confirm my assumption. I was wrong. Phew!

  1. Worrying about Car Fix = $0.00 + not so go good sleep
  2. Tow = $ 150
  3. Car Fix = $500
  4. Car Check-Up = $20.00

My phone would not charge. The USB port is apparently wet. This scared the crap out of me because I need my phone to connect to my remote station at work. No phone = No connection.

I tried those solutions I found on the internet. None of them worked. The stress level slowly increased because I don’t have a lot of room for trial and error. My phone is dying…and I have to log in at work. I considered buying a new phone. Another unnecessary expense!

But I played around with other chargers and cables. Then dumped my phone in a bag of rice for about an hour and a half. Hooked up the cables, and boom! It’s charging. Phew!

Why was it wet in the first place? I like listening to LoFi music when I’m in the bathroom. But when I shower, I could barely hear the music. Blasting the music out loud is not an option as the people I live with have a different taste in music. So I took it in with me.

S8’s are IP68 rated. Water-proof. So why not?

Anyway, that’s the price I had to pay for being extra on my showers.

My article for CTTAM did not make it to the Fall Edition of the magazine. Phew!

Re-reading the draft I sent them made me cringe. I did not want to post that article. It felt like it needed a crazy amount of edits.

That’s what I’m currently working on now. I’m applying the lessons I learned from copyblogger

Had our first Zoom meet with friends. Most weren’t able to make it. We will try again next time.

Carved pumpkins with the family.

Fasting on Sunday went well. I will do that again today.

A Year Ago This Week

  • I separate my personal life from work life.
  • It seems like I went through some challenging stuff I don’t even recall.
  • I wasn’t sure how to handle “free time”. That’s what you feel when you’re always on the go.
