2024 Update, Journal
Went on a 3-hour meeting with online friends to discuss making money from our craft (online). We've been learning and studying storytelling, but what for? What brought us together is this common goal of getting paid to do our craft---so we can keep doing the craft. Otherwise, we'd be stuck doing whatever is helping us pay the bills and other immediate needs (i.e. a 9-5 job). And so, if the goal is to "do the thing that you love", then you need to figure out how to convert your work into its monetary value---the same way we are getting paid in our 9-5 job.***Editing makes my writing process inefficient (but it's crucial).I'm editing Chapter 3 of my ebook and I was like, "WTF am I talking about?". In other words, I couldn't…

2024 Update, Journal
I'm now editing my ebook and I was like, "WTF am I talking about?!"That's me saying, "The work requires a lot of polishing". But here's the thing, the draft I shared with everyone was there for "validation" purposes. Is it useful or not? Because if the answer was *crickets* then that means, I should move on to the next money-making idea. No need for editing and all that. However, the response I got was "It's insightful".And so I'm gonna keep going with it. And I'm gonna try to hit 3 birds with 1 stone. How?I'm gonna repurpose the content of the ebook and post it as an article on Medium. That accomplishes the following:- validate the idea even further. Do people really care?- I get paid if people find it helpful-…

2023 Update, Journal
I'm done drafting my storytelling cheat sheet [link here].It took about 7 weeks, 6 chapters and 25 pages to distill what I learned so far about storytelling. I'm not referring to the kinds of stories you read when you were a kid. I'm referring to non-fiction type of storytelling in the form of written text, posted on social platforms. Why did I create this?To gain the trust of potential clients and prove that I know a thing or two before they hire me.***When people are resistant to change, it's not because they're stupid.I create new automated spreadsheets at work to address the issues we've been having with the old spreadsheets. Then I realized, that most of my team prefers to use the old spreadsheets---despite the errors they give. If you…

2024 Update, Journal
Spent a day in Saskatoon with my dad. Why?Let's save that for later. I wanna get more into my 1st impression of Saskatoon. It's uhh kind of like Winnipeg---it's quiet.Interpretation: it's difficult to find a good way to kill time.***I'm still not done with my ebook's first draft. That means I'm a week late. Therefore, I again, need to get ChatGPT to revise the plan it created for me.I don't think this is going to be a big deal since I'm not planning to "polish" the ebook. The goal is to get it out there ASAP and validate if it's valuable.***Met with a professional through Google Meet to talk about careers and life in general. This was an individual I met through RRC's Ten-Thousand Coffees. I signed up in the hopes of finding…

"Do you need a ride home?", the car dealership staff asked.I'm thinking, "Why is he asking? Of course there's a reason why. Let's find out..."I responded with, "Not really. I need to wait for it". Then he goes, "No worries, I got you!".That's when the surprising thing happened!I did not realize Uber operates in Winnipeg LOL. I was so surprised to a point where I made myself look like I live under a rock. And when I hopped on the Uber vehicle, I learned that most car dealerships got rid of their transport vehicles and switched over to Uber lol.But what's less surprising is how the fee for a car fix gouges your budget.***I'm on a marathon of writing challenges!I wrote......a "storyselling" e-mail....a "shiny dime"....a "publication" challenge on Medium. Then came…

2024 Update, Journal
When the doctor set-up an in-person meeting with me to go over my bloodwork, I was like, "Oh shit! What did he see now?!"We went over it and I was like, "WHAAAAAAAT?!"Not much has changed from my last check-up. That's a good thing because I'm not getting worse. But here's why I reacted that way.But first, context---because context matters. It's winter. I didn't wanna drive. Plus, I tend to misjudge the traffic and road conditions. What I'm really trying to say is: I was almost late and I had to Tokyo Drift my way to get there on time lol. Now, here's the reason behind the "Whaaaat?!"We could've gone through my results over the phone---like last time.***I'm learning how to build in public---on Threads---about storytelling. In case you didn't know, I'm part of…

2023 Update, Journal
We've been getting normal blood pressure readings this week.I say "we" because I'm not doing all the work. Reyvi does. She does all the planning and cooking the kind of diet that would help me avoid taking meds to address hypertension. Here's what I learned about diet and bp (so far):- diet has a lot more impact than exercise (sounds obvious but not to me).- my bp readings at night are lower than in the morning. Maybe because I'm an early bird and I'm pumped up to get shit done lol.- I haven't been eating beef (which breaks my heart). Can't confirm just yet to say it's a factor.- I've been avoiding salty foods (and less rice).- I'm taking Omega 3s***I decided to use Threads as my platform to test my…

2024 Update, Journal
I turned 38 this week but it feels more like I turned 38 last month.Let me explain...Reflecting back on what I've done in 2023, I realized that I've grown enough (not my height but in terms of skills in writing and being an office worker) to take on bigger challenges. I'm talking about challenges I wouldn't dare doing simply because aiming for them makes me feel arrogant.I'm a nobody who wants to be somebody but prefers to stay a nobody.Confusing? That's exactly where I'm at. And now I'm on the path to working my butt off (internal work that is) to help me believe I'm capable of tackling such challenges.***My 1st meeting as a Small Group Leader in NON (an online community of storytellers) went much better than I expected!I met…

2024 Update, Journal
My goal this year is to make 5k from my writing. How?By finding a client I can ghostwrite for. How would I go about it?Follow the plan ChatGPT has written for me. I received a free prompt where you can get it to create a plan for you.The plan for Week 1? Learn storytelling. Now, wtf does that look like?Copywork. It's when you copy someone's writing by hand, word-for-word. The idea is that by copying the writer's work, you get a sense of what was going on in their head as they are writing. Who did I pick?George Ten - a famous e-mail storyseller.***I signed up for a free e-book on storytelling from some random dude on X (Twitter).I'm a sucker for free stuff lol. But in 30 minutes after receiving my…
