Week 14

All the chapters of my ebook have been published on Medium for testing. That means, whichever performs the best (the top 5) will be included in the ebook.

The next step is to convert these chapters into an e-book, which, will serve as a lead magnet to help me understand my readers. I’ll do that by creating a set of survey questions. The more I understand who’s paying attention to my work, the better I can customize my content for them—and build trust.

Trust—is not something you develop in an instant. It takes a while depending on the value you provide out there.

Drinking a bottle of beer in the afternoon felt…relaxing.

The workload is getting a little too crazy lately that I wish I was a full-time writer. But that “wish” only shows up when things are not going well. Otherwise, things will stay the same. Why change something that is working…right?

But these “I wish…” moments are what fuels my desire to become a professional writer.

I’m gonna leverage that desire as much as I can.

I started creating content again, however this time, I’m analyzing my process.

It typically takes me a week to write an article. It feels inefficient. Definitely a lot of room for improvement.

Here’s what I learned:
– Ideas look a lot better when they stay in your head. I had a tough time finding clarity of what I really wanted to say and for who and what problem I’m solving.
– Hooks are important. But it’s difficult to come up with hooks until you know exactly what you’re talking about. And that clarity only happens in the editing phase.
– I learned the Why-How structure for my sub-points. Why does the reader need to care? Then explain HOW it works or why it matters.

The next step is to convert them into carousels—all my long-form content will be converted to short-form.

Gah–it’s a lot of work. But I hope, that by doing this more frequently, I’d increase my efficiency. Time and time again, the saying “Hardwork is the shortcut” keeps popping up.

A Year Ago This Week

  • I read a few pieces of content on “content creation burnout” and why taking a break is okay.
  • I’ve been playing with AI in writing.
  • We took Lio to the clinic because he had a fever.
